Intro to Mediation Courses Basics, Qualification and Apprenticeship Fall/Winter 2025 

The Introduction to Mediation course is a 30-hour+ course taught in two sections.  The first 15 hours is Mediation Basics.  The second 15 hours is Mediation Qualification.  Participants who complete both sections will apprentice, if desired, with MV Mediation in order to become a qualified mediator in Massachusetts.  

Section One will be held on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm beginning October 21.  There are six sessions .  All classes will be via zoom.  

Section One: Mediation Basics
1. What is mediation?
2. How to set the stage.
3. Listening to the conflict story
4. Crafting mediation questions
5. Negotiation in mediation
6. Developing the final agreement

Cost is $500.

Section Two will be held on Tuesdays from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm beginning December 2. There are six sessions. All classes will be via zoom.


Section Two:  Mediation Qualification in Massachusetts
1. Mitigating impasse
2. Mediation and neuroscience

3. Biases and diversity in mediation
4. Power imbalances
5. Handling emotions in mediation
6. Ethical dilemmas in mediation

Cost is $500.

Apprenticeships are available for those who have completed all their required course hours and demonstrated competency through mediation role plays.  Cost is $250.
