MV Mediation Youth Programs
At MVMC, we are dedicated to empowering the next generation with the tools to manage conflicts positively and constructively. Our youth programs integrate engaging, hands-on activities to equip students with lifelong communication and problem-solving skills.
The 3rd Grade Peace Project is a 10-week classroom program designed to guide third-grade students in developing healthy communication and constructive ways to handle conflict. Through stories, games, role-play, and team activities, children will explore topics like emotions, listening, identifying common ground, and peaceful choices. Teachers receive supporting materials—such as posters and toolkits—to help reinforce these concepts beyond each session, helping build a foundation of understanding and respectful interaction for every student.
The 6th Grade Introduction to Mediation teaches early adolescents the fundamentals of conflict resolution, mediation techniques, and peer communication through an 8-week course. Designed specifically for sixth-grade students, the program offers interactive workshops where students practice active listening, neutral facilitation, framing issues, and generating solutions together. Through realistic scenarios and guided reflection, students experience the roles of both mediator and participant, building confidence and empathy in everyday interactions and school life.
Expanding Peer Mediation in High Schools
Looking ahead, MV Mediation aims to establish a peer mediation training program for high school students. This initiative will empower teens to take on leadership roles in fostering peaceful resolution strategies within their schools. By training peers to mediate conflicts, we hope to build a sustainable framework for youth-led conflict resolution across the island.
By addressing conflict resolution at pivotal stages in a student’s development, we aim to cultivate a culture of peace and understanding within our island community.
